All I need to do now is think of a dressing to go with it ;) Best wishes RP

We just wanted to pass on our thanks for the wonderful smoked products we have recently consumed! Very good value (especially the smoked salmon trimmings)! At last, smoked food that tastes as it should.

This year we have been concentrating on marketing with other local food and  tourism businesses in the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons.  We feel sure this is a good way forward in terms of sustainability and it is fun to be working  within our community with like-minded companies in bringing our wonderful area and its produce to the wider world.

We are exhibiting at the Ideal Home Show as part of a Mid Wales and Brecon Beacons promotion under the umbrella of the Prince's Foundation.

HRH The Prince of Wales @ Ideal Home ShowThe opening day was amazing!  It started with a visit from Gregg Wallace, (of Materchef fame), who was really friendly and, it turns out, no stranger to Wales and Welsh Rugby in particular!  Minutes later he escorted HRH The Prince of Wales to our stand and invited him to taste, “Some delicious Smoked Duck.”  The Prince of Wales shook my hand and asked to take away some of our produce to try. He did however try the smoked Pwll Mawr Cheddar there and then!  I am left with an unforgettable feeling of pride and humbleness.

Our presence here has shown just what an impact we can make as a community.  Huge thanks to Alexandra Marr & Associates for coordinating the stand - to Brecon Brewing, Brecon Beacons Holiday Cottages, Brecon Mountain Activities and The Felinfach Griffin for their fabulous manpower and selling and to Cradocs BiscuitsBlaenafon Cheddar, Trealy Farm CharcuterieWelsh Farmhouse Apple Juice, Penderyn Whisky and Brecon Carreg for their delicious Breconshire food and drink.

Brecon Beacons @ Prince's Pavilion @Ideal HomeWith our proximity to Prince Charles’s Welsh home within the Brecon Beacons and a shared interest and concern over  sustainable foods and packaging, we are just delighted to have had the opportunity to exhibit under the umbrella of the Prince’s Foundation.

Millennium Stadium to serve up SCRUM-tious Black Mountains' smoked fish

Smokery celebrates order for a ‘car-load’ for Six Nations clash

AN award-winning food producer from the Brecon Beacons has received an order for a “car-load” of smoked salmon from the Cardiff Millennium Stadium for the Wales v France Six Nations rugby clash.

Jo Carthew, director at Black Mountains Smokery, was thrilled when she heard the news that the stadium had ordered 30 kilograms – the equivalent of filling a small car – of their smoked salmon and another 30 of their smoked halibut.

The fish will be delivered in plenty of time for the Wales v France Six Nations rugby game on March 17, where it will be served to up to 2,000 guests.

Head chef at the Millennium Stadium, Malcolm Faulkner, said the two varieties of smoked fish will feature as ingredients in a multi-course gourmet meal, served in the stadium’s corporate hospitality suites.

After 10 years of leading the kitchen at the Madejski Stadium in Reading, Faulkner took charge of the Cardiff stadium kitchens in early 2010. Since then he has striven to support Welsh producers by sourcing ingredients locally. This is not the first time he has specifically chosen produce from the Black Mountains Smokery.
