Award-winning, Gouda type cheese made from locally produced raw milk on the farm in Ceredigion, Wales. It has a dense, smooth and creamy texture and a mellow flavour that gets stronger with age. Locally harvested laver seaweed is added during the cheesemaking process which gives a mild saltiness. Excellent when toasted or grilled as it melts in strings and great on pizza.
Because the cheese is hand-made by the Teifi cheesemaker, each batch will vary slightly from the next.
The cheese is suitable for vegetarians.
In 1982, The Onstwedders came to Wales from Holland with dreams of organic farming. They soon set about reviving the lost tradition of using raw milk and local ingredients to make high quality artisanal cheese. Caws Teifi Cheese is now the longest established artisan cheese maker in Wales.
