Celtic Promise is an award-winning, Gouda type washed-rind cheese made in Ceredigion, Wales. The cheese is hand-made on the farm from locally produced milk. Because the cheese is hand-made by the Teifi cheesemaker, each batch will vary slightly from the next.
A half wheel of unpasteurised, semi-soft cheese made from cows' milk. Uniquely shaped like a dumpling and ripened in cider. Beneath the sticky orange-red rind and fruity smell, there is a beautiful cheese with a soft buttery texture, pungent aroma and a strong yet delicate flavour.
Celtic Promise is one of only two cheeses in Britain to have been awarded the title of Supreme Champion twice at the British Cheese Awards.
In 1982, The Onstwedders came to Wales from Holland with dreams of organic farming. They soon set about reviving the lost tradition of using raw milk and local ingredients to make high quality artisanal cheese. Caws Teifi Cheese is now the longest established artisan cheese maker in Wales.
Teifi Cheese are the most highly awarded cheesemakers in Britain. Their cheeses have won countless first prizes and gold medals at The Royal Welsh Show, The Nantwich Show, The British Cheese Awards and The World Cheese Awards.
