Caws Teifi is a delicious artisan mature hard cheese made from unpasteurised raw Welsh milk in Ceredigion. Creamy, firm-textured and salty, it is no surprise that this cheese has won so many awards. Teifi Seaweed is based on the Teifi Natural cheese with locally harvested seaweed that is added during the cheesemaking process. Laver seaweed is a popular ingredient in Welsh cuisine, adding a mild saltiness to the cheese.
Meet the Producer
In 1982, The Onstwedders came to Wales from Holland with dreams of organic farming. They soon set about reviving the lost tradition of using raw milk and local ingredients to make high quality artisanal cheese. Caws Teifi Cheese is now the longest established artisan cheese maker in Wales.
Teifi Cheese are the most highly awarded cheesemakers in Britain. Their cheeses have won countless first prizes and gold medals at The Royal Welsh Show, The Nantwich Show, The British Cheese Awards and The World Cheese Awards. Their Celtic Promise is one of only two cheeses in Britain to have been awarded the title of Supreme Champion twice at the British Cheese Awards.
